WINTER-LIKE COLD TO START THE WEEK, WARMUP EXPECTED BY THURSDAY

Residents across the region should brace for a sharp return to winter-like conditions at the start of the week, according to the National Weather Service. After some severe weather watches and warnings, power outages, high winds and some storm damage reported in counties south of the Fairfield, Wayne County area on Sunday, today’s (Monday) high temperatures are forecast to struggle to reach the mid-30s, while overnight lows tonight will plummet into the teens to low 20s.

Strong northwest winds are expected to make conditions feel even colder, with wind chills dropping into the single digits and lower teens, prompting residents to take extra precautions when venturing outside.

A gradual warming trend is expected to begin Tuesday, with afternoon highs climbing into the upper 30s. The real relief will arrive later in the week, as a more significant warmup is forecast to push temperatures back into the 70s by Thursday.

There is a brief chance of light precipitation Tuesday night into early Wednesday, but otherwise, the rest of the week looks to be dry and much more comfortable.
