Houseplant enthusiasts are invited to refresh their indoor gardens at the upcoming Repotting and Caring for Houseplants Workshop, hosted by Illinois Extension on Tuesday, April 21st from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Annex Building, Wabash County Fairgrounds, 15039 4-H Center Lane in Mt. Carmel.
Led by Katie Bell, Extension local food systems and small farms educator, the workshop will offer hands-on instruction in pruning, repotting, propagation, and tackling common houseplant issues. “House plants are a great way to add low-maintenance natural beauty to your indoor spaces. With a few easy steps, you can keep your plants thriving for years to come,” Bell says.
Participants are encouraged to bring small or medium-sized houseplants in need of repotting, along with pots or planters, gardening gloves, a small trowel, and pruners. Potting soil will be provided. The event is open to both youth and adults, with children 13 and under required to be accompanied by an adult.
Registration is available online at go.illinois.edu/houseplant or by calling the Wabash County Extension Office at 618-262-5725. For reasonable accommodation requests, contact Katie Bell at klbell@illinois.edu as early as possible.
