Fairfield was led by Malori Simpson who went 3-3 from the plate; Kaylee Musgrave who went 1-3 with 2 RBI’s and a Stolen Base; and Kiersten Vaughan who went 1-4 with a Double and an RBI. Kiersten Vaughan took the loss for the Lady Mules going 4 innings, giving up 12 hits and 5 runs with 2 strikeouts.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK:
On Wednesday, the Fairfield Lady Mules competed at the Lawrenceville Track Meet against Flora, Richland County, Vincennes Rivet, Mt. Carmel, and Lawrenceville and came away with a 1st Place Overall Team finish. Notable individual performances for the Lady Mules were: Wren Braddock – 2nd in 200m and 2nd in High Jump; Emeri Sager – 2nd in 800m and 2nd in 1600m; Emily Vaughan – 1st in 100m Hurdles and 1st in 300m Hurdles; Mahogany Langford – 1st in Shot Put; Macie Edwards – 1st in Discus and 2nd in Shot Put; Jensyn Robbins – 1st in Triple Jump and 3rd in Long Jump; and 2nd Place finishes by the 4x100m, 4x200m, and 4x800m Relay Teams.

The Bulls were decimated by the Philadelphia 76ers in a 157-137 drubbing from Xfinity Mobile Arena. The Bulls trailed by as many as 47 points in the losing effort. Josh Giddey led Chicago with 23 points and 12 assists, while Matas Buzelis finished with 18 points. The Bulls are tied for 11th place in the Eastern Conference at 29-and-43. They visit the Thunder tomorrow night.

The Pacers failed to earn back to back victories after falling to the Los Angeles Lakers 137-130 in Indianapolis. Pascal Siakam led the Pacers in scoring with 20 points. Indiana has dropped 17 of its last 18 games and will host the LA Clippers tomorrow.

The Blues go for their third win in a row when they host the San Jose Sharks at Enterprise Center tonight. The Blues are coming off a 3-0 win over the Washington Capitals at home on Tuesday. St. Louis is in seventh place in the Central Division with 69 points.

The Chicago Blackhawks will try to extend their point streak to three games when they visit the Philadelphia Flyers at Xfinity Mobile Arena tonight. The Hawks are coming off a 4-3 win over the Islanders on the road on Tuesday. Chicago is in last place in the Central Division with 67 points.

>>Illini Take On Houston In Sweet 16

(Houston, TX) — The three-seed Illinois Fighting Illini will try to keep their title hopes alive when they take on two-seed Houston in the NCAA Tournament from Toyota Center tonight. The Illini earned a 76-55 Second Round win over VCU last Saturday. Illinois is looking to advance to the Elite Eight for the second time in three years. Tonight’s game can be heard on WFIW-AM 1390 on the Illini Sports Radio Network. The pregame show starts at 8:05pm with tip-off set for 9:05pm.

(Undated) — The NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament resumes tonight with four Sweet 16 matchups. Second-seeded Purdue takes on 11th-seeded Texas, and top-seed Arizona faces fourth-seeded Arkansas in San Jose. Ninth-seeded Iowa battles fourth-seeded Nebraska.

(St. Louis, MO) — The Cardinals begin the season with a game against the Tampa Bay Rays at Busch Stadium this afternoon. St. Louis is looking to get back in the playoffs for the first time since 2022. The Cardinals finished in fourth place in the NL Central with a 78-and-84 record last year. (Milwaukee, WI) — The White Sox open up the 2026 campaign with a game against the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field today. Chicago will try to get back to the postseason for the first time since 2021. The Southsiders finished in last place in the AL Central with a 60-and-102 mark last year. Shane Smith starts for the Sox today.

(Undated) — The Yankees shut out the Giants 7-0 from San Francisco on Opening Night of the MLB regular season. Max Fried [[ FREED ]] allowed just two hits over six-plus innings. The traditional Opening Day slate features almost a dozen games on Thursday, which includes the defending World Series champion Dodgers facing the Diamondbacks from Los Angeles. Paul Skenes and the Pirates battle Francisco Lindor’s Mets from Queens to start the day.

>>Phillies Rookie Justin Crawford Starting In Center Field

(Philadelphia, PA) — The son of a former MLB All-Star will patrol the outfield for the Phillies on Opening Day. Justin Crawford will play in center field against the Rangers on Thursday. The 22-year-old is ESPN’s 69th-ranked prospect and will become the team’s youngest starting outfielder since 1972. Crawford’s father, Carl, was a four-time All-Star over his 15-year career with the Rays, Red Sox and Dodgers.

>>Rams WR Nacua Sued Over Alleged Antisemitic Remark, Bite

(Los Angeles, CA) — An NFL star is facing some serious off-field accusations. A woman in Los Angeles has filed a civil lawsuit against Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua [[ POO-kah nah-KOO-ah ]], alleging that he made an unprovoked antisemitic statement and later bit her on the shoulder. The lawsuit cites gender violence, assault and battery, and negligence. The alleged events happened on New Year’s Eve in Century City. The woman filed for a temporary restraining order, but that request was denied. Nacua’s attorney said in a statement that his client denies the allegations in the “strongest possible terms.” A hearing is reportedly scheduled for April 14th.

>>Seahawks To Open NFL Season With Wednesday Game

(Seattle, WA) — For the first time in more than a decade the NFL will open the season on a Wednesday. The league announced the Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks will kickoff Week 1 on September 9th. The change from the usual Thursday kickoff game is due to the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams playing in Australia that day. The last time the NFL opened on a Wednesday was in 2012 when the league avoided conflicting with then-President Obama’s Democratic National Convention speech. The Seahawks’ opponent will be announced later this spring.

>>Celtics End Thunder’s Winning Streak

(Boston, MA) — The Celtics spoiled the Thunder’s lengthy winning streak after earning a 119-109 victory from Boston. Jaylen Brown led the team in scoring with 31 points. Jayson Tatum added 19 as Boston has won five of its last six games. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander [[ shay ]] led all scorers with 33 points for OKC, which had a 12-game winning streak snap.

>>NBA Expansion Approved For Exploratory

(New York, NY) — The NBA is moving forward with expansion exploration to Las Vegas and Seattle. The league’s Board of Governors announced it has authorized formal evaluations to add teams in both cities. The NBA has hired investment firm PJT Partners to assess ownership groups, arena plans, and economic impact. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver says both markets have a strong history of supporting professional basketball. Seattle was home to the SuperSonics before the franchise relocated to Oklahoma City and rebranded as the Thunder. The NBA says it will provide updates as the process continues.

>>Lightning Defenseman Victor Hedman On Leave

(Tampa, FL) — The Lightning are skating without their captain. The team announced on Wednesday that Victor Hedman is taking a temporary leave of absence for personal reasons. The defenseman has 17 points in 33 games this season, which started late due to surgery on his elbow. Hedman helped Tampa earn back-to-back Stanley Cup wins in 2020-and-21.

(Houston, TX) — Min Woo Lee will be looking to defend his title when the Texas Children’s Houston Open tees off on Thursday. Lee won last year’s tournament after finishing atop the leaderboard at 20 under par. The 27-year-old will be alongside Tony Finau and Adam Scott for the first and second rounds. Erik van Rooyen, Andrew Putnam and Bronson Burgoon will be among the first group of players teeing off round one.
