Samuel Paul Ellis, 53, of Carmi, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana, following a lengthy illness. He was born on June 18, 1972, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the son of Monty Ray and Patricia Ann (McCormick) Ellis.
Paul worked for many years in the oil field and the coal mine. He loved fishing, camping and collecting arrowheads. Paul also loved his cats.
Paul is survived by his significant other, Nancy Ritchel of Carmi, IL.; his siblings, Marty Ellis, Steven Ellis, Erik Ellis and Angie Blazier; and longtime friends, Louis “JR” Ziegler and Shauna Williams.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother Lindley Ellis.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1007 W. Sycamore St. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Paul’s memory to Roberts and Cook Funeral Service to assist with funeral expenses. Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with arrangements.
