The Fairfield Rural Fire Department responded to a brush fire Friday afternoon, just after 2 o’clock, at 2183 County Road 1020N, north of Fairfield.
According to Rural Fire Chief David Vaughan, a resident was burning brush when the wind caused the fire to spread, igniting additional brush and reaching a carport with a parked vehicle. The car sustained major damage, and the fire also spread to the base of a nearby mobile home, causing minimal damage.
Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 20 minutes.
