Richard Eugene Rogers, 75, of Carmi, Illinois, passed away on Friday, April 3, 2026, at his home. He was born on Thursday, January 25, 1951, in Fairfield, Illinois, a son of Charles Joseph and Betty Joyce (McCluskey Rogers. On September 25, 1977, he married Peggy Ann Scott and together they have shared over 48 years of marriage.
Richard was a veteran of the United States Navy where he served his country honorably. He was retired, having worked as a coal miner for White County Coal at the Pattiki Mine near Carmi.
Richard enjoyed playing various card and PlayStation games. He loved his family and enjoyed the time he spent with them.
In addition to his wife Peggy Rogers of Carmi, Richard is survived by, his children, Melody (Terry) Gehrig of Carmi, Jason (fiancé, Shea Ellison) Rogers of Carmi, Kristine Downey of Vermont and Patrick (Ashley) Rogers of Carmi; grandchildren, Autumn (Daniel) Mathews, Amber Gehrig, Lindsay (June Downand) Rogers, Jaylen Rogers, Natalie Escobar, Emma Downey, Noah Downey and Arabella Rogers; great-granddaughter, Merida Mae Mathews; sisters, Karla (Dave) Wilborn and Ellen (Roger) Comer and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles Wayne Rogers and Merle Joe Rogers.
A private celebration of Richard’s life will be held at a later date.
Roberts and Cook Funeral Service has been entrusted with the arrangements.
