A Vincennes, Indiana man was arrested Saturday evening after crashing his vehicle while texting and driving on a suspended license. Wayne County Deputies say 50-year-old Leon Buckman was driving a 2004 Chevy Impala eastbound on I-64 and attempted to pass another vehicle.

According to authorities, Buckman lost control of his vehicle after overcorrecting, causing the car to leave the roadway and strike a tree. Fairfield Rural Fire Department, Wayne County Sheriff’s Department and Wayne County Ambulance personnel responded to the scene. During their investigation, deputies discovered Buckman’s license was suspended.

Buckman was booked at the Wayne County Jail and received three citations for driving while suspended, operating an uninsured vehicle, and unlawful use of an electronic device while driving. Buckman was later released from custody and given an upcoming April court date.
