The City of Salem announced Wednesday that Police Chief Todd Boles has been placed on paid administrative leave, effective immediately, as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to a news release issued by the city, this action follows standard procedures and does not indicate any determination of wrongdoing by Chief Boles. City officials emphasized that the decision is intended to ensure all matters are reviewed thoroughly and objectively, as an investigation is required whenever there is an allegation of a potential internal policy violation.
During Chief Boles’ leave, Deputy Chief Tyler Rose will assume responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Salem Police Department, maintaining continuity of service for the community.
City representatives reaffirmed their commitment to transparency and accountability, while also respecting the integrity of the investigative process and the rights of everyone involved. Due to the sensitive nature of the matter, no additional information will be released at this time.
