Fairfield was led by Harv Keyser who went 1-3 with a Double and 3 RBI’s and Logan Hodges who went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s. Caleb King picked up the win for the Mules going 2 innings giving up 0 runs on 0 hits with 1 strikeout. Cisne was led by Hagen Howard and Tyler Baker who each went 1-2 with a Double. Baker also took the loss for Cisne, going 3 innings giving up 11 runs on 3 hits.

HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS SOFTBALL:
Fairfield 21, Cisne 0
Fairfield was led by Kenry Hutchcraft and Abby Simpson who each went 2-2 with a Triple and 3 RBI’s apiece and Bella Benskin who went 2-2 with a Double and 3 RBI’s. Hutchcraft also picked up the win for the Lady Mules, going 1 inning and giving up 0 runs on 1 hit with 3 strikeouts. Cisne was led by Kaleya Porter who went 1-1. Rylee Dillon took the loss for Cisne going 1 inning, giving up 11 runs on 10 hits.

The FCHS Lady Mules Track team took 2nd place out of 11 teams on Wednesday at the DuQuoin Girls Open Meet. Notable performances for the Lady Mules were: Remi Taylor-1st Pole Vault; Emily Vaughan-1st 110m Hurdles and 1st 300m Hurdles; Mahogany Langford-2nd Shot Put; Selah Sork-2nd Pole Vault; and Jensyn Robbins-2nd Triple Jump.

The Chicago Bulls will try to get on a winning streak when they visit the Washington Wizards at Capital One Arena tonight. The Bulls just earned a 129-98 win over the Wizards on Tuesday night. Chicago is in 12th place in the Eastern Conference at 30-and-49. Tonight’s game tips off at 6:00PM.

The Pacers play their final road game of the season tonight. Indiana is visiting the Brooklyn Nets at Barclays Center. The Pacers currently have the second-worst record in the NBA at 18-and-61.

The Chicago White Sox are on a three-game losing streak following a 5-3 loss to the Baltimore Orioles at Rate Field. The Southsiders had a one-run lead before Lucas Sims allowed a pair of runs in the top of the sixth. Sims was charged with the loss in relief after Sean Burke went five innings and gave up just two runs in a no-decision. The 4-and-8 Sox send Anthony Kay to the mound against the Royals tonight. In other club news, the White Sox optioned Opening Day starting pitcher Shane Smith to Triple-A yesterday.

Alec Burleson led the way for St. Louis, going three-for-four with three RBIs, while Jordan Walker hit his fifth home run of the season. Michael McGreevy allowed a run over six innings to earn the win. The Cardinals improved to 7-and-5 on the season. They return home to take on the Red Sox tomorrow night.

(Atlanta, GA) — A starter on the Falcons offensive line is calling it a career. Kaleb McGary announced his retirement on Wednesday. The 31-year-old right tackle missed last season with a knee injury he suffered on the last day of training camp. McGary started more than 90 games for Atlanta in his career and was expected to protect the blindside of lefties Michael Penix Jr. and Tua Tagovailoa [[ TUNG-oh-vai-LO-uh ]] this season.

(Houston, TX) — The Texans are planning on keeping their 2023 first-round draft picks around beyond the upcoming season. ESPN is reporting that Houston has exercised the 2027 fifth-year options for quarterback C.J. Stroud and defensive end Will Anderson Jr. ahead of next month’s deadline. Stroud will make 25.9-million-dollars and Anderson will receive 21.5-million-dollars fully guaranteed in 2027. The Texans are 32-and-19 in the regular season with three playoff wins and two AFC South titles since the duo joined the team.

(Undated) — The NCAA is set to discuss potential changes to their current eligibility rules. According to multiple reports, an NCAA panel is scheduled to discuss changes to eligibility rules that would incorporate age into the process. The proposal would give athletes five years of eligibility with the clock starting at the earliest of two dates: when the athlete turns 19 or when they graduate high school. There would be limited exceptions that would not involve injuries.

(Gainesville, FL) — Florida football is securing a major recruit for the future. Maxwell Hiller committed to the Gators on Wednesday. The five-star offensive tackle from Pennsylvania is the seventh-ranked prospect in ESPN’s Junior rankings for 2027. Hiller is also the Number-2 overall lineman in his class and chose Florida over Alabama, Tennessee and others.

>>Kraken Prez Francis To Step Down

(Seattle, WA) — Kraken president Ron Francis will leave his role at season’s end in a “mutual” parting of ways, the team announced. Francis was hired as the first general manager of the Kraken in 2019 and moved into his current role last spring. Francis played in the NHL from 1981 to 2004 with the Hartford Whalers, Pittsburgh Penguins, Carolina Hurricanes and Toronto Maple Leafs.

(Boston, MA) — The Bruins are adding their top prospect to the mix. Former Boston College forward James Hagens agreed to a three-year entry level deal with the Black and Gold on Wednesday. Hagens was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2025 NHL draft. He led Hockey East with 23 goals and 47 points this season. Boston will be looking to snap its four-game losing streak when it hosts the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday at TD Garden.

(Toronto, ON) — The Capitals are still alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race after shutting out the Leafs 4-0 from Toronto. Logan Thompson made all 21 saves to earn the shutout while Dylan Strome lit the lamp in the opening period. Washington trails Ottawa by three points for the last Wild Card spot. Joseph Woll made 14-of-17 saves for Toronto, which has already been eliminated from postseason contention.

(Cleveland, OH) — The Guardians will be without their starting shortstop for at least a month. The team announced on Wednesday that Gabriel Arias is out four-to-eight weeks with a left hamstring strain. The 26-year-old got hurt while running the bases in Monday’s game against the Royals. Arias is hitting .200 with a pair of homers and four RBIs this season.

(Provo, UT) — BYU guard Rob Wright The Third entered the transfer portal on Wednesday. Wright averaged 18.1 points and a team-high four-point-six assists in his lone season as a Cougar and was named to the Third Team All-Big 12 for his performance.

(Las Vegas, NV) — The NCAA Men’s Hockey Tournament has reached its final stop. The Frozen Four begins today in Las Vegas. Wisconsin and North Dakota will face off in the first semifinal before a matchup between Michigan and Denver. The winners will face off in the championship game on Saturday.
