By Mark Wells Apr 14, 2026 | 5:56 AM

A fundraiser is being organized to help Michael Farmer, who is facing stage 4 lung cancer. Recently, Michael was hospitalized for surgery to remove a mass from his arm. He is currently undergoing radiation and chemotherapy for his illness.

Michael and his wife, Esther, have been long-time residents of the Sims area. Due to his condition, Michael is unable to work, adding further stress to an already challenging situation for the family.

The benefit event will be held at the Wayne City Community Building at 103 East Mill St. this Sunday afternoon. A meal, silent auction, and raffle are planned, with the building opening at 4 p.m. Raffle winners will be notified. The meal will include pork burgers or hot dogs with sides and dessert.

Seating will be available in the community building, with meals also available to go. Community support is encouraged to help assist with Michael’s medical bills and related expenses.
