EDWARDS COUNTY CUSD #1 BOARD OF EDUCATION TO HOLD REGULAR MEETING MONDAY

The Edwards County Community Unit School District #1 Board of Education will meet Monday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. The meeting will take place in the K-12 Band Room.

The agenda for the evening includes the approval of minutes from the March 16th meeting, the Treasurer’s Report, April’s bill list, and the destruction of closed session audio recordings older than 18 months. A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) report will also be presented.
Public participation and communications, including thank you letters and cards, will be heard, and the meeting will also include a spotlight segment.

Under unfinished business, the Board will consider a motion to approve Junior High Softball association membership.

New business items include action on the 2026–2027 Consolidated District Plan, approval of field trips over 150 miles, and the selection of a new website host. The Board will also conduct a first reading of several board policies addressing topics such as meeting procedures, public records access, grievance procedures, child protection, student development, migrant students, and Title I policies. Additionally, motions to accept donations over $500 and approve camps will be discussed.

Administrative reports will be presented by Superintendent David Cowger, who will provide updates on upcoming graduation and baccalaureate ceremonies scheduled for May 16th, cafeteria operations, sales tax, maintenance project grants, minimum teacher salary requirements for 2026-2027, ADA website accessibility, and statements of economic interest. Principals from ECHS, AGS, West Salem Grade School, and the K-12 Assistant Principal will also provide reports.

Personnel considerations on the agenda include resignations, employment considerations for various positions including maintenance help and coaching staff, recognition of volunteers, and requests for leave of absence.

A closed session is scheduled to discuss personnel matters, including employment, compensation, discipline, and student discipline. Motions related to closed session topics may be considered following the executive session.
