NORTH WAYNE SCHOOL BOARD APPROVES SALARY INCREASES, NEW HIRES, AND ACCEPTS MULTIPLE RESIGNATIONS

The North Wayne Community Unit School District #200 Board of Education met at Cisne Middle School Wednesday night approving a series of personnel changes, salary increases, and business items to prepare for the 2026-27 school year.

During the meeting, the board approved a 5.41% salary increase for all non-certified staff and principals for fiscal year 2027. Several new hires were also announced, including Amber Phillips as Johnsonville First Grade Teacher, Jim Farleigh as Johnsonville PE Aide, Meghan Obrecht as a one-on-one Pre-K aide at Johnsonville, Chandler Courtright as CMS RTI aide, Lauren Grace Conard as CMS Head Volleyball Coach, Jennifer Lewis as CMS Assistant Volleyball Coach, Jayden Hatcher as CHS Assistant Basketball Coach, and Misty Ellis as CHS Assistant Volleyball Coach.

The board accepted resignations from Lacey Bunting (Pre-K aide), Aaron Billington (CHS Assistant Basketball Coach), Rylee Kelly (Johnsonville First Grade Teacher), Jasmine Moore (Special Education Teacher at Mt. Erie Elementary), and Misty Ellis (CMS Assistant Volleyball Coach).

On the consent agenda, the board approved minutes from the March 18 meeting, personal leave and dock day requests, the district’s Consolidated Plan, all field trips for elementary, middle, and high schools, and an intergovernmental agreement for a regional career and technical education delivery system. The board also authorized the use of CHS facilities for the Cisne Fireworks event and approved FMLA leave for one employee.

A $1,000 donation to the FFA Program from Curt Frederick was accepted with gratitude.

In other business, the board authorized payment of March bills, entered into an 18-month electric supply contract with Homefield Energy, and reviewed a district building study presented by Todd Cyrulik of BLDD Architects. No action was taken on a portable classroom for Mt. Erie. The board also accepted bids from Prairie Farms for milk, Wabash Valley Service Co. for fuel, and Carter Trucking for rock for the coming fiscal year.

The next regular board meeting is scheduled for May.
