The Cisne FFA Chapter is celebrating a series of strong performances after competing in multiple regional and multi-state contests this April, earning top team and individual honors across a variety of agricultural disciplines. At the Murray State Field Day, held April 15th at Murray State University, Cisne FFA finished as the 22nd overall chapter among 80 teams from Kentucky, Illinois, and Tennessee. Nineteen Cisne FFA members participated, with several teams earning Top 10 finishes:

Small Power Equipment 2nd: Lane Allen, Lester Jordan, Liam McCarthy, Cale Shannon
Floriculture 7th: Aidyn Dickey, Becca King, Daniel Reynolds, Allison Shannon
Livestock Judging 8th: Kenzie Alvis, Addisyn Hutchcraft, Ava Lewis, Addison Owens
Poultry Judging 9th: Rylee Dillon, Mikkie Hearle, Esme Krupp, Lillian McCarthy
In Section 23 FFA competitions, Cisne teams continued to shine:
Livestock Judging:
The team of Quay Johnson, Lane Allen, Esme Krupp, Addison Owens, Addisyn Hutchcraft, Claire Cannon, Kenzie Alvis, Ashtyn Smith, and Ava Lewis placed 4th on April 10th at the Jasper County Fairgrounds in Newton. Addisyn Hutchcraft led the team, placing 13th overall out of 103 students from 13 schools. Members evaluated cattle, sheep, swine, and goats.

Horticulture:
At the Richland County Fairgrounds in Olney on April 10th, Cisne’s horticulture team (Becca King, Aidyn Dickey, Allison Shannon, Cale Shannon, and Mikkie Hearle) earned 3rd place. Allison Shannon was recognized as 13th overall individual among 37 students from eight schools. The contest included plant identification, a written test, placing classes, and flower arranging practicums.

Ag Mechanics:
On April 13th at Wabash Valley College, Cisne FFA finished 5th in the Section 23 Ag Mechanics Career Development Event. Individual achievements included:
Liam McCarthy: 3rd place Carpentry
Esme Krupp: 4th place Surveying
Lane Allen: 5th place Ag Power
Brody Hutchcraft: 5th place Welding
Mikkie Hearle: 6th place Electricity
Students completed written tests, identified tools, and demonstrated practical skills.

Also on April 13th at Wabash Valley College, Cisne FFA’s Ag Business Management team placed 4th in Section 23 competition. Top individual results included Addisyn Hutchcraft (7th) and Mikkie Hearle (8th) overall. Thirty-six students from eight schools participated, with the event testing knowledge in marketing, taxes, and business calculations.
