The Edwards County FFA chapter recently joined forces with Stumpy Hill Farm, the Edwards County Farm Bureau, and Country Home Processing to demonstrate “the power of pork” and provide hundreds of pounds of fresh pork to local food pantries and the Edwards County Senior Center.
Thanks to the generosity of Stumpy Hill Farm, which donated the pigs, and the support of the Edwards County Farm Bureau and Country Home Processing, which covered processing costs, the collaboration resulted in 302 pounds of pork being distributed to those in need across the county.
A total of 241 pounds of ground pork and sausage were delivered to the Hope Center, the House of Prayer food bank, and the West Salem Zion food bank. In addition, 121 pork chops were donated to the Edwards County Senior Center and WADI, helping to support local seniors and families facing food insecurity.
This effort is part of the Edwards County FFA’s and the Edwards County Farm Bureau’s ongoing participation in “Harvest for All,” a national program dedicated to fighting hunger by providing fresh, nutritious food to communities across America.
Through cooperative initiatives like “the power of pork,” the Edwards County FFA and its partners continue to make a meaningful difference in the fight against food insecurity, ensuring that neighbors in need have access to quality local products.
