Somewhat Cooler Weather Coming

By Mark Wells Apr 18, 2026 | 6:48 AM

The latest forecasts from the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky say a bit of a cooldown is expected this weekend, with a warmup next week.

Currently, no freezing temperatures are forecast for our area, but low temperatures could dip into the upper 30s tonight and Sunday night, before warming back into the 80s by Thursday.  Dry weather after today is expected until later next week.

The extended forecasts indicate above normal temperatures for the six to ten day outlook and above normal precipitation.  Cooler weather is a possibility by the end of the month, as the 8 to 14 day outlook indicates slightly below normal temperatures and near normal precipitation expected.  The three to four week outlook for May 2nd through 15th shows below normal temperatures and above normal precipitation expected.  The 30 day outlook for May, released Friday, indicates equal chances for above or below normal temperatures and precipitation.

As far as drought conditions, the latest U.S. Drought Montior Map shows a small area of Moderate Drought conditions in southern Wayne County and areas to the southwest.  The rest of

the state is either in Abnormally Dry conditions, or is not showing any dry or drought conditions, especially in the northern part of the state.
