James Ray Glover, 90, of Grayville

James Ray Glover, 90, of Grayville, Illinois, passed away on April 20, 2026, at The Haven on the River in Grayville, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on August 23, 1935. in Grayville, Illinois, the son of Robly and Iva (Johnson) Glover. James married Linda Lou Holtzclaw on March 29, 1959, at First United Methodist Church in Grayville, Illinois.
He spent his career working in the oilfields throughout the tri-state area. James attended First Baptist Church in Grayville. He was a lifetime member of Grayville Moose Lodge #1960. James enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting and gardening. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
James is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Glover of Grayville, IL; children, Anthony (Marcia) Glover of New Harmony, IN, Angela (Scott) Oathout of Sparta, IL. and Lisa (Patrick) Yates of Carmi, IL.; grandchildren, Drew Glover, Jamie Glover, Julien Glover, Peyton Oathout, Olivia (Colton) King, George (Hillary) Yates, Colton Yates and Alec Best; great-grandchildren, Kamdyn Poelker, Grayson Poelker, Wyatt Yates and Harlan Yates; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Fran Bach, Rosalie Glover, Kenneth Glover, Bob Glover, David Glover and Dennis Glover.
A service celebrating James’ life will be held on Saturday April 25, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, 221 N. First St. Grayville, IL. 62844, with Pastor Rod Groff officiating. Family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’ memory to Pets at Risk and will be accepted at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
