A 45-year-old Mount Vernon resident, Clinton Maxey, is facing felony charges after police say he traveled to meet someone he believed was an underage minor for sex.
According to Mount Vernon Police, Maxey had been communicating online with an individual he thought was a minor and arranged to meet them. When he arrived at the location, officers were waiting and took him into custody.
Authorities emphasized that no actual minor was involved and no one was ever in danger during the investigation. Maxey has been charged with indecent solicitation and traveling to meet a minor. Prosecutors are seeking to deny his pretrial release, and a detention hearing has been scheduled.
