The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that all lanes of eastbound Interstate 64 over the Wabash River near Grayville and the Illinois-Indiana state line will be closed beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, April 27th.
The closure is necessary to allow for a scheduled bridge inspection along with minor maintenance work.
A marked detour will be posted to direct motorists around the closure, which is expected to last overnight into the early morning hours. Westbound traffic on I-64 will not be impacted.
If weather conditions become unfavorable, the work will be postponed to the night of April 28th.
Drivers should plan for possible delays and are encouraged to seek alternate routes. Motorists are also reminded to slow down, stay alert for changing road conditions, follow all posted signage, and avoid using mobile devices while traveling through the work zone.
