On Thursday, Fairfield, Cisne, and Wayne City grade schools participated in a Tri-meet at the FCHS Train Yard Track. For the Boys, Fairfield finished 1st, followed by Cisne in 2nd and Wayne City in 3rd. For the Girls, Fairfield finished 1st, followed by Wayne City 2nd and Cisne 3rd.

Michael Busch, Ian Happ, and Seiya Suzuki all homered in the victory, while Dansby Swanson added a walk-off single in the tenth. Javier Assad picked up the win in relief. The Northsiders are tied for first place in the NL Central at 16-and-9. Jameson Taillon starts for the Cubs against the Dodgers tonight.

The St. Louis Cardinals will try to get back in the win column when they host the Seattle Mariners at Busch Stadium tonight. The game can be heard on WOKZ-FM 105.9 on the St. Louis Cardinals Radio Network. First pitch is at 7:15pm.

The Chicago White Sox scored three runs in the top of the ninth during a 4-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks at Chase Field. Andrew Benintendi hit a three-run home run to put Chicago up for good, while Grant Taylor earned his first win in relief. The Southsiders improved to 10-and-15. They send Bryan Hudson to the mound against the Nationals at home tonight.

(Orlando, FL) — The St. Louis Battlehawks will try to get back above .500 when they visit the Orlando Storm in Florida tomorrow. The Battlehawks just lost to the DC Defenders 28-22 on the road last Saturday. St. Louis is off to a 2-and-2 start this season. Tomorrow’s game starts at 6:00PM.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The first round of the 2026 NFL Draft is in the books. The Las Vegas Raiders selected Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza with the first overall pick. The New York Jets took Texas Tech edge rusher David Bailey, the Arizona Cardinals took Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love, the Tennessee Titans selected Ohio State wide receiver Carnell Tate, and the New York Giants took Ohio State linebacker Arvell Reese to round of the top five. The Los Angeles Rams made the biggest surprise of the first round by taking Alabama QB Ty Simpson with the 13th overall pick. The Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks ended the day by drafting Notre Dame running back Jadarian Price. Rounds two and three are scheduled for Friday.

(Undated) — Another day of NBA playoff action is in the books. The Atlanta Hawks took down the New York Knicks 109-108 to take a 2-1 series lead. In other Eastern Conference action, the Toronto Raptors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 126-104 north of the border. Out west, the Minnesota Timberwolves beat the Denver Nuggets 113-96 in Minneapolis. The Cavs and Wolves now hold 2-1 series leads over their opponents. The action continues Friday with a trio of Game Threes. The Philadelphia 76ers host the Boston Celtics, the Houston Rockets entertain the Los Angeles Lakers and the Portland Trail Blazers play host to the San Antonio Spurs.

>>Milwaukee Bucks Hiring Taylor Jenkins As Head Coach

(Milwaukee, WI) — The Milwaukee Bucks are finalizing a deal to hire Taylor Jenkins as their new head coach. ESPN reports Jenkins is expected to sign a two-year contract and take over for Doc Rivers. He becomes the Bucks’ third head coach since 2023 after they fired Mike Budenholzer. The 41-year-old was an assistant for the team during the 2018-2019 season. Jenkins was the head coach of the Memphis Grizzlies for six seasons before being let go following the 2024-2025 season, posting a 250-and-214 record.

(Undated) — Celtics guard Derrick White has been honored by his peers. White was selected as the NBA’s Sportsmanship Award winner. He received 20 percent of the first place votes from the 386 players who cast ballots. The 31-year-old will receive the Joe Dumars Trophy, named for the two-time champion and Basketball Hall of Famer. Boston visits Philadelphia for Game Three of its first round series on Friday. The best of seven series is tied at one game apiece.

(Undated) — The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued with three games on Thursday. The Buffalo Sabres beat the Boston Bruins 3-1 to take a two games to one lead in the series. The Carolina Hurricanes took a commanding three games to none lead over the Ottawa Senators with a 2-1 win north of the border. The Colorado Avalanche beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 to take a 3-0 series lead of their own. The playoffs continue Friday with three games in tied series. The Montreal Canadiens will host the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Utah Mammoth will play their first ever postseason home game against the Vegas Golden Knights and the Anaheim Ducks will take on the Edmonton Oilers at home.

(Brooklyn, NY) — The WNBA preseason starts tomorrow. The Fever open their exhibition schedule on the road when they visit the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. Indiana went 24-and-20 last year.

(Avondale, LA) — The duo of Alex Smalley and Hayden Springer are sitting atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Zurich Classic of New Orleans. Smalley and Springer shot a 14 under 58 to lead the field by one stroke. Austin Eckroat and Davis Thompson are in second at 13 under par. Several others are tied for third at 12 under. Luke List and Henrik Norlander will be alongside Chandler Phillips and Carson Young teeing off the second round at TPC Louisiana.

(Talladega, AL) — Tyler Reddick hopes to maintain his NASCAR Cup Series dominance this Sunday. The field battles in the Jack Link’s 500 from classic Talladega. Reddick earned his fifth win last weekend at Kansas Speedway, which was just the ninth race so far this season. The driver of the Number-45 car leads the standings while Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Ty Gibbs and Kyle Larson round out the top-five.
