A 38-year-old Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 75 years in prison for his role in the shooting of three people in the 1100 block of Lamar Avenue in October 2024.

Timothy Boyd was found guilty in December 2024 following a four-day jury trial in Jefferson County. The charges included attempted first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm. Sentencing was delayed due to procedural matters, but on Thursday, Judge Jerry Crisel handed down Boyd’s sentence: 50 years for attempted first-degree murder, to be served consecutively with a 25-year sentence for aggravated battery with a firearm. Under state law, Boyd must serve 85 percent of his prison term.
The incident occurred on October 12th, 2024, when three victims suffered serious injuries and were transported to St. Louis hospitals for treatment. After Boyd was identified as the suspect, authorities launched a search that culminated in his arrest five days later at a motel in Carlyle.

A hearing to reconsider Boyd’s sentence is scheduled for June 18th.

Assistant State’s Attorney Blake Jennings led the sentencing hearing, with assistance from former State’s Attorney Sean Featherstun, who also prosecuted the case.

Additionally, 39-year-old Myleika Whitelow, who was with Boyd at the time of his arrest, still faces a charge of aiding or concealing a fugitive. A plea agreement hearing for Whitelow is set for May 19th.
