A Fairfield man has been sentenced in Wayne County Circuit Court following a guilty plea.

43-year-old Peter Daubs pleaded guilty Tuesday to Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, a Class 3 felony.

The charge stems from an incident on July 14, 2025, when Fairfield Police were dispatched to Daubs’ residence, where officers were aware he had an active warrant. He was taken into custody at that time.

In court Tuesday, Daubs was sentenced to two years of probation and ordered to pay court costs. He was given credit for three days already served in the Wayne County Jail. The court also imposed a 180-day jail sentence, which will be stayed pending the successful completion of his probation terms. If those terms are violated, the jail sentence will be enforced.

Court records indicate Daubs was previously convicted in 2008 of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving a victim between the ages of 13 and 16.
