A brief Grayville City Council meeting Monday night prioritized approvals for community events and utility policy updates, then turned to ongoing engineering work, all completed before an expected storm system moved through.

Parade and event approvals include:

The council signed off on resolutions for Memorial Day and Grayville Days parades.

The Grayville Moose Lodge received a special event liquor license for its June 20 Hog Roast.

The meeting also set a first reading for standardizing city meeting dates to the second and fourth Mondays of each month, with exceptions for holidays including Memorial Day.

City Attorney Jay Walden was instructed to draft amendments to the utility shut-off language to cover all utilities, not just gas. The goal is to ensure that shut-off provisions default to the landowner’s name, with the landowner responsible for charges or disputes.

Mayor Travis Thompson, Commissioner Scott Browning, and Commissioner Andi Ford discussed outstanding bills. Ford noted the total had been reduced from about $80,000 to roughly $46,000, with Browning dissenting on the proposed updates.
Engineering update

The council is preparing bid documents for the wastewater treatment plant, and sludge sampling is anticipated soon to support a sludge application permit.

Rex Gower from Milano & Grunloh announced a delay in the water treatment plant bid opening, moving from May 5th to May 18th to give bidders more time to review documents.
