Emergency crews responded to another backwater rescue overnight in the Wynoose Bottoms north of Mount Erie.

The Cisne Fire Department was called out Thursday just after 11:30 p.m. to County Highway 3 near 2400 North for a report of a stranded motorist. The Fairfield Rural Fire Department responded for mutual aid, bringing a boat at the request of Cisne firefighters.

Officials say the male driver of a black Ford Taurus became stranded in backwater along Wynoose Road. A deputy with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office also assisted from the north side of the scene in helping rescue the driver.

No injuries were reported.

Crews had responded to the same area just a day earlier, shortly after 9 a.m. Wednesday, for another stranded motorist.

The Wynoose Bottoms is known for frequent flooding issues due to rising waters from the Little Wabash River following heavy rainfall.
