
Frontier Community College hosted its annual Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS) Lineman Rodeo on Saturday, April 18th drawing a strong crowd despite rainy, windy, and cloudy conditions. The event was held at the training poles behind the Workforce Development Center in Fairfield.
A total of 19 EDS students competed in this year’s rodeo, participating in a series of timed challenges including the hurt man rescue, mini excavator tire stacking, speed climb, fuse cutout, egg climb, and underslung switch.
Wyatt Halter earned the overall title, finishing with 14 points. Tanner Keith placed second with nine points, while Cameron Dawes and Jaxon Funneman tied for third with eight points each. Dillon White rounded out the top five with seven points.
Individual event winners included Dillon White in the hurt man rescue with a time of 1:19.82, Wyatt Halter in the mini excavator tire stacking at 43.47 seconds, Aaron Meade in the speed climb at 18.88 seconds, Sawyer Patterson in the fuse cutout at 1:28.20, Tanner Keith in the egg climb at 28.60 seconds, and Wyatt Halter in the underslung switch at 45.73 seconds.
This year’s Lineman Rodeo was made possible through the support of sponsors Les McCormick Trucking Inc., Tallman Equipment Co., Inc., and Wayne-White Electric Cooperative. The EDS program is led by instructor Dustin Wiggins, and the college expressed appreciation to all who attended and supported the event.
