The Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA) is launching a statewide planning initiative aimed at shaping future housing policy and investment decisions across Illinois.
The effort, known as the Illinois Housing Blueprint, is designed to help municipalities, state agencies, nonprofit organizations and local leaders better understand the connection between housing, economic development and community needs. IHDA says the blueprint will serve as a planning tool to guide targeted, community-specific housing strategies.
As part of the initiative, IHDA will host a series of listening sessions throughout the state. In the region, a session is scheduled for June 18th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Effingham, Illinois. The meeting will be held at Koerner Distributor and will gather input from residents, housing stakeholders and local officials.
Illinois residents are encouraged to register in advance for the listening sessions online. IHDA emphasizes that community participation is critical to ensuring the blueprint reflects the needs of residents across the state, including both urban and rural perspectives.
In addition to the listening sessions, IHDA is collecting feedback through a statewide housing survey available in both English and Spanish. The survey is open to all Illinois residents and asks participants about housing needs, challenges and community priorities.
