Members of the Edwards County FFA Horticulture team participated in several competitions throughout April, earning strong finishes across the region and state.
On April 2nd, the team competed at the Parkland Horticulture Competition, where participants completed a general knowledge test, identified plants and tools, ranked plant specimens, and created floral arrangements. The team placed fourth overall, with Abby Gill finishing 12th individually and Isaac Stevens placing 13th.
The team returned to competition on April 10th at the Section 23 Horticulture Career Development Event (CDE), earning a second-place team finish. Individual results included Isaac Stevens in fifth place, Abby Gill in sixth, Brianna Swartzbaugh in eighth, and Bree Peach in ninth.
On April 15th, Edwards County competed at a meet in Murray, placing sixth overall. Two days later, the team traveled to Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where they again finished sixth, with Isaac Stevens placing 14th individually.
The season concluded with the state competition on April 24th, where Edwards County placed 16th as a team. Stevens led the group individually with a 30th-place finish.
