Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department made four arrests late Sunday night and early Monday morning following two separate traffic stops in the Mount Vernon area.
Just before midnight, deputies conducted an investigative stop of a gray 2018 Hyundai Sonata near the intersection of North Illinois Highway 142 and Treadway Lane in rural Mount Vernon. A K-9 unit from the Mount Vernon Police Department assisted at the scene. Authorities reported locating multiple items of contraband in the vehicle.
The driver, 53-year-old Michael S. Clarida of Harrisburg was arrested and transported to the Jefferson County Justice Center.
Shortly after midnight, deputies conducted a second stop involving a white 2011 Chevrolet Camaro near South 15th Street and Veterans Memorial Drive in Mount Vernon. A K-9 unit again assisted, and additional contraband was reportedly discovered. The driver, 29-year-old Brianna M. Pino of Collinsville along with passengers 55-year-old Timothy S. Kempf of Collinsville and 32-year-old Kendall C. DeGrave of Cave-In-Rock were taken into custody.
According to authorities, Clarida is charged with methamphetamine conspiracy, delivery and possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine. Pino and DeGrave are each charged with methamphetamine trafficking and methamphetamine conspiracy. Kempf faces charges of unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon and methamphetamine conspiracy.
All four individuals were lodged in the Jefferson County Jail pending detention hearings.
