Frontier Community College will hold its 48th Annual Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 15th in the east gymnasium at Fairfield Community High School. The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m.
The Fairfield Community High School Ensemble, under the direction of Joshua Livesay, will perform both the processional and recessional. Attendees are asked to stand for the recessional and remain in the gymnasium until all graduates have exited.
Dr. Sharmila Kakac, President of Frontier Community College, will deliver the welcome address and announce the recipient of the President’s Award. Emmalynn Vinson, a 2026 graduate receiving an Associate in Science and Arts degree, will serve as the student speaker.
Dr. Kakac will also recognize student award winners representing academic programs and campus organizations. Dr. Alani Frederick, Dean of Health Professions, will present candidates for degrees and certificates.
Gary Carter, Chairman of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees, will formally confer degrees and certificates and present diplomas to the graduates.
To conclude the ceremony, Dr. Kakac will deliver the traditional charge to the Class of 2026.
Blessed Blooms will be on site offering $10 cash-and-carry bouquets for purchase, providing attendees an opportunity to honor their graduate with a celebratory arrangement.
