Illinois Eastern Community Colleges marked National Apprenticeship Week on May 1st by recognizing the employers, students, and community partners helping build the region’s workforce.
Leaders from the healthcare and manufacturing sectors took part in the celebration, highlighting career pathways available through apprenticeship programs. State Senator, Terri Bryant also attended and signed an official proclamation commemorating the occasion.
“Apprenticeships work because they’re built on partnerships,” said IECC President Dr. Sharmila Kakac. “Together, we’re creating real pathways to employment and strengthening our local economy.”
Officials say the event underscored the importance of collaboration between education and industry in preparing students for in-demand careers while supporting economic growth across the region.
