HIGH SCHOOL BOYS BASEBALL:

It was Senior Day at Veteran’s Field on Thursday as the Fairfield Mules faced off with Eldorado. The Mules recognized 8 Senior Baseball players on the day: Jesse King, Caleb King, Hayden Felowitz, Logan Tullis, Tallen Hixenbaugh, Jake Easton, Ian Puckett, and Logan Hodges.

Fairfield powered past Eldorado, winning by a score of 8-0. The Mules were led by Braxton Marshel who went 1-3 with a Homerun and Logan Hodges who went 2-2 with 2 RBI’s. Breychan Kovacich and Tallen Hixenbaugh combined to throw a 2-hit Shutout with 7 strikeouts between them.

Fairfield was led by Kiersten Vaughan who went 2-3 with a Triple, a Double, and 2 RBI’s and Alivia Rice who went 4-4 with a Triple, 2 Doubles and 3 RBI’s. Alivia Rice also picked up the win for the Lady Mules with a 4-inning No-Hitter powered by 11 strikeouts.

Alec Burleson homered in the victory, while Matthew Liberatore earned his second win after holding San Diego to one run on three hits in six innings. St. Louis is in second place in the NL Central at 22-and-15. Michael McGreevy starts for the Cardinals against the Padres tonight.

(Undated) — The Colts are moving on from a couple members of their secondary. Indianapolis released veteran cornerback Kenny Moore the Second and safety Nasir Adderley on Thursday. The decision to move on from Moore comes after his recent trade request. General manager Chris Ballard agreed to explore trade possibilities during the NFL draft but nothing materialized. Adderley was attempting a comeback three years after retiring at 25.

(Undated) — The NFL is reportedly planning to release its schedule next week. According to CBNC’s Alexander Sherman, the league plans to unveil the 2026 regular season schedule either Wednesday or Thursday. The slate will feature a record nine games outside of the United States with contests set for Australia, Brazil, France, England, Germany, Mexico and Spain.

>>Pistons, Thunder Defend Home Court In Early Semis Action

(Undated) — The top NBA teams in both conferences successfully defended home court in the early stages of the Conference Semifinals. The Pistons got 25 points from Cade Cunningham to down the Cavaliers 107-97 and are now ahead 2-0 in the best-of-seven East series. The Thunder matched that momentum behind Chet Holmgren’s 22 points in a 125-107 win over the Lakers from OKC. The semis shift locations for a pair of Game Three’s on Friday. The 76ers are trailing the Knicks 2-0 as the East series hits the City of Brotherly Love while the Spurs and Timberwolves duel out West in a 1-1 series from Minneapolis.

(Chicago, IL) — The NBA Draft Lottery is set to take place Sunday. The lottery will determine the order of selection for the first 14 picks of the draft. Drawings will be conducted to determine the first four picks, while the remaining lottery teams will select in positions five through 14 in reverse order of their 2025-26 regular-season records. The Washington Wizards, Indiana Pacers and Brooklyn Nets have the highest odds to select first at 14-percent. He is considered day-to-day after walking gingerly off the court during New York’s win over Philadelphia in Game Two of the East semifinals. The 28-year-old is listed as questionable for Game Three slated for Friday night in Philly. The Knicks are leading the best of seven series 2-0.

>>Hornets Extend Head Coach Charles Lee

(Undated) — The Hornets are showing confidence in their head coach. After leading the team to a 25-win improvement Charlotte has signed Charles Lee to a contract extension. Details of the new deal were not released. GM Jeff Peterson said in a statement that Lee has done an outstanding job establishing their foundation. The Hornets were eliminated by the Magic in the second Eastern Conference play-in tournament game, and have not made the playoffs in 10 seasons.

>>Hurricanes One Win Away From East Final

(Undated) — The Hurricanes are one win away from going back to the Eastern Conference Final. The Canes collected a win over the Flyers in Game Three of their best of seven second round series from Philadelphia. Carolina hopes to book its second straight trip to the East Final when it faces the Flyers in Game Four on Saturday. The second round continues with two more games on Friday. The Sabres will be looking to take a 2-0 lead in their series when they host the Canadiens for Game Two, and the Ducks hope to take the advantage in their series with the Golden Knights when they host Game Three.

(Undated) — The WNBA season begins Friday. The New York Liberty will host the Connecticut Sun and the Toronto Tempo will play the first game in franchise history at home against the Washington Mystics to begin the action. (Charlotte, NC) — Matt McCarty is sitting atop the leaderboard after the first round of the Truist Championship was suspended due to inclement weather in Charlotte. McCarty shot an eight under 63 to open the tournament. Sungjae Im is currently in second at seven under par through 17 holes. Several others are tied for third at five under. The first round will resume on Friday at 10:30AM Eastern and round two will begin as scheduled.

>>NASCAR Cup Series Heads To Watkins Glen This Sunday

(Watkins Glen, NY) — The NASCAR Cup Series makes a stop at track full of twists and turns this Sunday. The field squares off in the Go Bowling at the Glen race from Watkins Glen International. Chase Elliott hopes to build on his Wurth 400 win last weekend as he sits third in the standings. Tyler Reddick and Denny Hamlin are ahead while Ryan Blaney and Chris Buescher round out the top-five.
