A drier stretch of weather is expected for the coming week, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah, Kentucky. The only current mention of rain is a small chance of showers and thunderstorms Thursday night.
The extended forecasts are also indicating warmer and drier conditions. The latest six to ten day and 8 to 14 day outlooks are showing above normal temperatures expected, along with below normal precipitation. Even the three to four week outlook, running from May 23rd through June 5th, is indicating above normal temperatures, with equal chances for above or below normal temperatures.
The state’s dry and drought conditions have mostly disappeared, according to the latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map. It shows Abnormally Dry conditions in Wayne County and areas to the south, with a small area of Moderate and Severe Drought in the southern tip of Illinois. Areas of western Kentucky and southeast Missouri are experiencing Severe and Extreme Drought conditions.
