IDOT Launches Student Loan Repayment Program For Engineers

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Department of Transportation is taking action to address a shortage of engineering talent. IDOT is launching a hiring initiative that will pay 15-thousand-dollars of eligible student loan debt annually for up to 50 new civil engineers who graduated from Illinois schools. To be eligible, the engineer must be hired by the department on or after July 1st, 2024, and work at IDOT for four continuous years.

IDNR Reminds People To Avoid Handling Wild Animals and Birds

(Springfield, IL) — The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is reminding everyone to leave baby birds and young animals alone when they encounter them in the wild. In nearly all cases, human intervention does more to hurt animals than to help. Young birds and animals are still being fed and cared for by their parents, who usually stay away from nests and dens if humans are nearby. Also, keeping wild animals as pets, or raising wild animals believed to have been abandoned is banned.

Pritzker Urges Trump Administration To Approve Illinois’ Broadband Expansion Plan

(Chicago, IL) — Governor Pritzker is urging the Trump administration to approve Illinois’ broadband expansion plan. The proposal would provide more than one-billion-dollars in federal funding to expand broadband access to more than 383-thousand Illinois residents. Illinois and California are the only two states awaiting approval. Pritzker made the request in a letter sent to U.S. Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick.

The Avett Brothers To Perform At 2026 Illinois State Fair

(Springfield, IL) — The Avett Brothers are set to perform at the Illinois State Fair this summer. The folk rockers will take the Grandstand stage on August 20th. The band’s 2016 album True Sadness debuted at number-one on Billboard’s Top Albums chart and earned two GRAMMY nominations. The 2026 Illinois State Fair is being held August 13th through 23rd in Springfield.

IDFPR Launches New Online Portal to Streamline Consumer Financial Complaints

(Chicago, IL) — The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is launching a new online portal for consumer financial complaints. The new submission option is designed to simplify and modernize the way Illinois consumers file complaints against financial institutions. The portal will now accept complaints for both the Division of Banking and the Division of Financial Institutions. The launch comes at a time when the country has seen a significant rise in consumer financial complaints.
