Former White County Sheriff’s Office Correctional Officer, Darren Hays of Carmi appeared in court Thursday afternoon for a pre-trial hearing in White County.
Hays, 57, remains lodged at the Saline County Detention Center while facing six counts of Custodial Sexual Misconduct and one count of Official Misconduct.
According to online court records, correspondence was submitted earlier this week by attorneys representing alleged victim Megan Valentine, who is currently facing a separate first-degree murder case.
Without objection from either side, the court approved future appearances by Valentine through Zoom proceedings.
The court also continued its previous ruling denying Hays pre-trial release. Another pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for June 11th.
