A longtime Fairfield business, Hooper’s Cleaners & Coin Laundry at 204 SW 3rd St., has ceased operations, marking the end of a local laundromat and dry-cleaning service that served the community for several years.

The business had previously been purchased by Rod and Linda Hooper from Newt & Joan Carter, who operated the location for decades as a combined coin laundry and dry-cleaning service. The closure brings an end to a long-running presence at the downtown Fairfield site.

The building’s closure comes as a new laundromat is expected to open in Fairfield. Jason Robinson is preparing to launch the new business just south of the M-Pressions Dance Studio on SW 10th Street.
