BLACK DIAMOND CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP MEET AT CHRISTOPHER:
The Fairfield Mules Boys Track team are Black Diamond Conference Champions after finishing in 1st Place at the Conference Championship Meet at Christopher. Individual Conference Champions for the Mules were: Justin Johnson – 1st in 400m, Johnson also set a new school record in the 200m with a time of 22.71 seconds; Skylar Bladel – 1st in 800m; the 4x400m Relay team of Skylar Bladel, Kanyen Lingafelter, Treyton Lewis, and Jarrett Welty; and the 4x800m Relay team of Treyton Lewis, Ashton King, Kanyen Lingafelter, and Skylar Bladel.





HIGH SCHOOL GIRLS TRACK:
IHSA GIRLS CLASS 2A TRACK SECTIONAL AT NEWTON:
The FCHS Lady Mules Track team was in action Thursday at the IHSA Class 2A Sectional at Newton and several Lady Mules finished as qualifiers for the IHSA State Track Meet next Thursday, May 21st at Eastern Illinois University. They were: Emeri Sager in the 800m; Wren Braddock in the High Jump; Jensen Robbins in the Long Jump and Triple Jump; Emily Vaughan in the 100m Hurdles, 300m Hurdles, and the Long Jump; the 4x200m Relay team of Macie Edwards, Remi Taylor, Jensyn Robbins, and Wren Braddock; and the 4x800m Relay team of Emily Vaughan, Macie Edwards, Jensyn Robbins, and Wren Braddock






Cisne’s Ashtyn Smith also qualified for the State Track Meet with a 2nd Place finish in the Triple Jump. Smith is the first female in Cisne High School history to qualify for State.

The Chicago White Sox are on a five-game winning streak after a 6-2 win over the Kansas City Royals from Rate Field. Randal Grichuk homered and drove in four runs during the victory, while Anthony Kay earned his third win after allowing two runs on six hits in six innings. The St. Louis Cardinals scored two runs in the top of the ninth during a 5-4 win over the A’s from Sacramento. Ivan Herrera hit a game-tying single before Jordan Walker drove in the go-ahead run. Walker also homered in the victory, while Victor Scott-the-second hit his second dinger of the season. The Cardinals remain in third place in the NL Central at 25-and-18. Dustin May starts for St. Louis against Kansas City tonight.

(St. Louis, MO) — The St. Louis Battlehawks will try to extend their winning streak to four games when they host the Houston Gamblers at The Dome at America’s Center tomorrow. The Battlehawks are coming off a 31-20 home win over Columbus last Friday. St. Louis is tied for first place in the UFL with a 5-and-2 record. Tomorrow’s game kicks off at 2:00PM.

Monday Night Football puts a bow on Week One when the Broncos and Chiefs duel from Kansas City. The first football game on Thanksgiving eve takes place out West between the Packers and Rams. The traditional Turkey Day slate features the Bears visiting the Lions, Cowboys hosting the Eagles and the Chiefs battling the Bills in Buffalo. Christmas Day showcases the Packers and Bears squaring off from Chicago, the Bills hitting the road to face the Broncos and the Seahawks entertaining the Rams.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Chicago Bears have their schedule for the 2026 season. The NFL announced the schedules for all 32 teams yesterday. Chicago begins the season with a road game against the Panthers on September 13th. The Bears also have a Monday night game against the Eagles on September 28th, games on both Christmas and Thanksgiving, and four other prime time games. The season ends with a road game against Minnesota in Week 18.

(Undated) — The 2026 NFL regular season schedule has officially been released. The Colts are opening the year at home when they host the Baltimore Ravens. Indianapolis will enjoy its bye in Week 13, and wrap up the season at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

(Champaign, IL) — Illinois men’s basketball is set to play against Duke the next two seasons. The Fighting Illini will travel to Durham to face the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium on November 17th. Illinois will then host Duke during the 2027-28 season on December 4th, 2027 at the State Farm Center. It will mark Duke’s first-ever visit to Champaign. The Blue Devils are coached by Chicago-area native Jon Scheyer.

The Cleveland Cavaliers will look to punch their ticket to the Eastern Conference Finals when they host the top-seeded Detroit Pistons at Rocket Arena. The Cavs enter leading the best-of-seven series 3-2. Out west, the San Antonio Spurs are one win away from the Western Conference Finals and will pay a visit to the Minnesota Timberwolves in Minneapolis. The Spurs also lead the series 3-2. The Oklahoma City Thunder and New York Knicks have already locked up their spots in the next round.

(Athens, GA) — Another Georgia football player is in trouble with the law. W-G-I-G reports Ja’Marley Riddle was arrested last week on two felony charges for possessing a controlled substance. The safety was also slapped with a misdemeanor for speeding. Police say Riddle was traveling about 95 miles-per-hour before stopping. Authorities claim a large bag of marijuana was recovered following a search.

(Undated) — Another team has punched its ticket to the next round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Anaheim Ducks 5-1 in game six of their series to advance to the Western Conference Finals. Vegas will play the Colorado Avalanche beginning Wednesday in Denver. Out east, the Canadiens beat the Sabres 6-3 to take a three games to two lead in their series. Montreal will host Buffalo in game six on Saturday.

(Chicago, IL) — The Chicago Blackhawks are importing some talent from overseas. The team signed forward Roman Kantserov to a three-year, entry-level deal yesterday. The Russian superstar will be paid just over one-million dollars per year. Kantserov had 36 goals and 64 points in 63 games in the KHL last year.

(Newtown, PA) — Several players are tied atop the leaderboard after the first round of the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club. Aldrich Potgieter, Stephan Jaeger, Min Woo Lee, Ryo Hisatsune, Martin Kaymer, Alex Smalley and defending champion Scottie Scheffler all shot a three under 67. Seven others are tied for eighth at two under par. Michael Block, Dustin Johnson and Rasmus Hojgaard will be among the first group of players teeing off round two.

(Dover, DE) — The NASCAR Cup Series regular season is on a short break. The field squares off in the All-Star race from Dover Motor Speedway this Sunday. Shane van Gisbergen took home the checkered flag at Watkins Glen last weekend. The driver of the Number-97 car climbed to 16th in the standings while Tyler Reddick, Denny Hamlin, Chase Elliott, Ryan Blaney and Chris Buescher make up the top-five.

(Laurel, MD) — The horse racing world turns its eyes to Maryland this weekend. The 151st running of the Preakness Stakes will take place Saturday at Laurel Park. This is the first time the race will be held somewhere other than Pimlico as the track undergoes renovations. Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo will not run, meaning there will be no Triple Crown winner this year.
