37-year-old Donald Currier of Grayville reached a plea agreement Thursday in White County Circuit Court stemming from a domestic disturbance investigation earlier this year. Currier was arrested in late April after authorities responded to a report of an active physical domestic dispute. In court Thursday, Currier pleaded guilty to Aggravated Domestic Battery and was sentenced to two years of probation and fined. A lesser Domestic Battery charge was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Online court records indicate the victim had previously requested Currier’s release from jail and later dismissed an order of protection filed in the case.
30-year-old James McFarland of Grayville also accepted a negotiated plea agreement Thursday in White County Circuit Court. According to Carmi Police Department, McFarland was initially arrested in May of 2025 following a pursuit on Abelson Drive in Carmi. He was later arrested again a month later facing additional charges. McFarland pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine charges connected to both arrests and was sentenced to 24 months of probation. He was also fined and received a six-month stayed jail sentence. Additional charges including Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding, Felon in Possession of a Weapon and Driving While License Revoked were dismissed as part of the plea agreement.
