Warmer and Somewhate Wetter Conditions Expected

A warmer weekend with a taste of summer conditions is expected for the region.  High temperatures could reach near 90 degrees by early next week.  A cooldown to closer to normal conditions is expected later next week.  There are also several chances for showers and thunderstorms in the forecast, however the chances for any severe weather is currently on the low side.

The extended forecasts are favoring warmer and somewhat wetter conditions.  The latest six to ten day, 8 to 14 day, and the three to four week outlooks, running through June 12th, are all indicating above normal temperatures for the region, and above normal precipitation chances.

The latest U.S. Drought Monitor Map for this week still shows Wayne County in Abnormally Dry conditions, and areas to the south.  The southern tip of Illinois is in a Moderate and Severe Drought.  No dry conditions are noted to the north of Wayne County.  Parts of western Kentucky are in Extreme Drought conditions.
