A Grayville firefighter lost his home to fire early Monday morning. Seth Schonaman reported smelling smoke around 12:15 a.m. at his mobile home on 102 E. Martin Street. Initially, he thought it was from nearby brush burning, but when his eyes began to water, he discovered his home was on fire.

Schonaman escaped injury, grabbing his dog and running out of the burning structure. Little Wabash Fire Chief Travis Thompson said the fire started in a back bedroom and quickly destroyed the entire trailer.

The Albion Fire Department and Edwards County EMS assisted at the scene. While no foul play is suspected, Chief Thompson requested the State Fire Marshal investigate the cause, given that Schonaman is a firefighter.
