Fairfield Memorial Hospital is encouraging community members to donate blood during an upcoming blood drive scheduled for Wednesday, June 17th.
The drive will take place at the hospital’s Educational Annex Building, located at 203 Northwest 10th Street in Fairfield.
Officials say blood donations remain a critical part of everyday patient care, helping accident victims, surgical patients, cancer patients, and individuals with chronic illnesses. Nationwide, someone needs blood or platelets every two seconds, with Type O blood especially important for emergency situations when there is no time to determine a patient’s blood type.
Both new and returning donors are welcome. Appointments can be scheduled by visiting the American Red Cross website at redcrossblood.org using sponsor code FairfieldMemorial, or by contacting Marketing Director Shauna Williams at 618-847-8242.
As a thank-you, all donors will receive a free meal ticket to the hospital cafeteria. Participants are asked to request their meal ticket from a Red Cross representative at the time of donation.
