NORTH WAYNE BOARD APPROVES CURRICULUM PURCHASE, HIRES ATHLETIC DIRECTORS

The North Wayne Community Unit School District 200 Board of Education met Wednesday evening at Cisne Middle School and approved several personnel, curriculum and operational items during its regular monthly meeting.

Board members approved the consent agenda, including minutes from the April 15 regular meeting and the May 8 special meeting. The board also approved personal leave and dock day requests, Family and Medical Leave Act leave for two employees, and accepted the retirement letter of Troy Helm effective May 29, 2026.

The board also approved a $500 donation from Wabash Communications to the Cisne High School FFA program.

In new business, the board approved payment of May bills and voted to increase substitute bus driver pay to $20 per hour.

Board members also approved the purchase of the “Big Ideas Math” curriculum as the new K-8 math program under a three-year contract.

Additional approvals included overnight trips for FFA students to attend an officers retreat and the state convention, the purchase of a district work and transportation truck not to exceed $32,000, and registration dates for the 2026-27 school year. Online registration will be held Aug. 3-11, with in-person registration available Aug. 10-11.

The board also renewed the district’s CEP lunch and breakfast program and approved student handbook changes for the upcoming school year.

Following executive session, the board approved several personnel items. Collin Klingler was hired as Athletic Director for North Wayne CUSD 200, while Tyson Lowe was hired as Assistant Athletic Director.

Additional hires included Paul Lowe and Katlyn Tannahill as aides at Mt. Erie Elementary for the 2026-27 school year and Kristen Duvall as Cisne Middle School assistant softball coach.

The board also approved the superintendent contract as presented.
