IECC OFFERING DRIVER EDUCATION COURSES FOR TEENS

Illinois Eastern Community Colleges is offering driver education classes for teenagers this summer and fall. Summer classroom sessions will be held Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from June 9 through July 16, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Due to construction, this session will be held at the West Richland Center, 320 E North Ave, Noble in Room 103 Fall sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from September 8 through October 27, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Registration for fall classes is expected to open in late spring or early summer. Behind-the-wheel instruction will be scheduled after completion of classroom sessions, with flexible scheduling coordinated between students and instructors. IECC is also offering a behind-the-wheel only option for students who have already completed classroom driver education elsewhere. The program provides the required six hours of driving instruction with flexible scheduling. The course fee is $400 and must be paid before classes begin. Payments may be made by mail, at the cashier’s office at Olney Central College, by phone using a credit card, or by cash or check on the first day of class. Students must also provide proof of age and complete required approval and permission forms before classes begin. Prior to starting behind-the-wheel training, students must possess a valid Illinois learner’s permit and document at least 10 hours of practice driving time, though 20 hours is recommended. Attendance is mandatory, and students are allowed only two absences before being required to enroll in a future session without refund eligibility. Additional information is available at  iecc.edu/driversed..
