A rural home near Orchardville in extreme northeastern Jefferson County was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning.
Firefighters were called to the residence on Depeche Road, about five miles southwest of Orchardville, around 9:19 a.m. When crews arrived, the house was already fully engulfed in flames.
The cause of the fire has not yet been determined, and authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
Officials reported that the believed occupant of the home was away for the weekend at the time of the fire. The individual’s name has not been released, pending confirmation of residency.
No injuries were reported. Multiple fire departments responded to the scene, including Jefferson Fire Protection District, Wayne City Fire Department, Kell Fire Department, and Bluford Fire Department. Firefighters remained on site for approximately two hours to bring the blaze under control.
