Federal safety officials have announced the recall of more than 1,000 lounge chairs sold through Amazon after a consumer reportedly suffered a finger amputation while adjusting the chair.
According to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, the recalled lounge chairs, manufactured by Giantex, pose an amputation hazard due to a pinch point in the chair’s adjustment mechanism. Officials said consumers can place their fingers in the dangerous area while adjusting the chair’s position.
The recall affects blue lounge chairs measuring approximately 76 inches long, 23 inches wide, and 13 inches high. The chairs feature a five-position adjustable locking system, with a backrest that can be adjusted from 13.5 inches to 26.5 inches in height.
Consumers who own the recalled chairs are urged to stop using them immediately and follow recall instructions provided by the manufacturer and federal safety officials.
