The Chicago White Sox surrendered four runs in the bottom of the fourth during a 6-4 loss to the Minnesota Twins at Target Field. Miguel Vargas drove in a pair of runs during the losing effort, while Davis Martin was charged with his second loss after allowing six runs on ten hits in four-and-two-thirds innings. The Southsiders remain in second place in the AL Central at 32-and-29. They send Erick Fedde to the mound against Minnesota this afternoon.

The St. Louis Cardinals allowed three runs in the top of the ninth during a 7-4 loss to the Texas Rangers at Busch Stadium. Riley O’Brien surrendered a go-ahead single to Joc Pederson in the inning and was charged with his third loss in relief. Nolan Gorman homered in the losing effort. St. Louis is in third place in the NL Central at 31-and-28. Andre Pallante starts for the Cardinals against the Rangers tonight.

The Chicago Cubs opened up their series against the Athletics with a 2-1 loss at Wrigley Field. Alex Bregman gave the Cubs an early lead with a first-inning RBI, but Nick Kurtz homered to tie the game in the third before Zack Gelof hit a go-ahead single in the fourth. Jameson Taillon was charged with his fifth loss after surrendering two runs on six hits in six-and-a-third innings. The Northsiders are in fourth place in the NL Central at 32-and-29. They send Colin Rea to the mound against the A’s tonight.

(San Antonio, TX) — The last stage in the NBA postseason is here. Victor Wembanyama and the Spurs tip off against Jalen Brunson’s Knicks in Game One of the Finals tonight from San Antonio. The Spurs are trying to win their first title since 2014 while the Knicks hope to end a more than 50-year title drought. The sides clashed in the 1999 Finals where San Antonio destroyed New York in five games.

(Raleigh, NC) — The Stanley Cup Final started with a bang. The Golden Knights outlasted the Hurricanes 5-4 in a back and forth Game One from Raleigh. The Canes stormed out to a two-goal lead before the Golden Knights responded with three straight. Tomas Hertl scored the go-ahead goal late in the third period. Vegas has now won seven straight playoff games. Carolina dropped just its second game of the postseason. Game Two is slated for Thursday.

(Lake Forest, IL) — The Chicago Bears will have a joint practice with the Cincinnati Bengals for the second time in three years. The Bengals announced that they will be hosting Chicago for one session during training camp in August. The practice will take place on August 20th, just two days before the two teams play a preseason game in Cincinnati. The Bears and Bengals had a joint practice ahead of the 2024 season. In other team news, Chicago held its first OTA practice of the week yesterday and will be back in action today.

(Atlanta, GA) — The Falcons are rewarding one of their best offensive playmakers. ESPN reports the team extended Drake London to a four-year deal worth just over 140-million dollars on Tuesday. The contract includes 100-million in guaranteed money. London is now the NFL’s third-highest paid receiver behind Seattle’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba [[ in-JIG-buh ]] and Cincinnati’s Ja’Marr Chase.

(Pittsburgh, PA) — The Steelers are taking care of one of their “hold ins.” ESPN reports the team extended Nick Herbig to a four-year, 100-million-dollar contract on Tuesday. The deal includes 42-million in guaranteed money. The linebacker was heading into the last year of his rookie contract and declined to participate in mandatory minicamp drills earlier in the day. Cornerback Joey Porter Jr. also sat out of practice in a similar situation.

>>NHL Announces Changes To All-Star Game For 2027

(Undated) — The NHL is shaking up All-Star weekend for next season. The 2027 midseason classic will feature teams representing Canada, Finland, Sweden, the United States and a “World” team made up of international players outside of the other four teams. The move follows the success of the 4 Nations Face-Off and the Winter Olympics. Each team will have nine skaters and two goalies that will compete in a 3-on-3 round-robin exhibition tournament. The winning team will claim a two-million-dollar prize. The All-Star Skills Competition will also now focus on the next generation of stars, with 10 players ages 25 or younger set to compete across eight events.

(Columbus, OH) — Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski is the winner of the NHL’s Norris Trophy. Werenski earned the honor over finalists Cale Makar of the Colorado Avalanche and Rasmus Dahlin of the Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old finished as the runner-up to Makar last season. The award is handed out annually to the NHL’s top all-around defenseman. Werenski recorded 22 goals and 59 assists for 81 points during the regular season. The honor caps a milestone year for Werenski, who also helped Team USA win Olympic gold.

>>Stars Sign Letter Of Intent For New Arena In Plano

(Dallas, TX) — The Dallas Stars could be moving to the suburbs. The team has announced that they have signed a non-binding letter of intent for a potential new arena in Plano. The Stars are proposing building a new arena at The Shops of Willow Bend as part of a new mixed-use development that would create a sports and entertainment district. The letter of intent has been submitted to the City of Plano and will go before the Plano City Council next Monday. The announcement follows an announcement Monday that the Dallas Mavericks have a preliminary agreement in place for a new arena site that would see the franchise depart downtown by 2031.

(Oklahoma City, OK) — The Women’s College World Series championship series begins tonight in Oklahoma City. For the second straight year, Texas and Texas Tech will face off in the best-of-three series. The Longhorns beat the Red Raiders two games to one last season, claiming their first national championship in program history.

(Washington, DC) — The Chicago Sky are on a five-game losing streak after falling to the Washington Mystics 90-72 at CareFirst Arena yesterday. The Sky trailed by as many as 22 points in the losing effort. Sydney Taylor led Chicago with 15 points off the bench, while Skylar Diggins chipped in with 14. The 3-and-6 Sky host Connecticut on Friday.

In the other men’s singles match, 26-seed Jakub Mensik [[ YAH-koob MEN-sheek ]] defeated 28-seed Joao [[ Zhoo-AHNG ]] Fonseca in straight sets. Zverev and Mensik will now go head-to-head on Thursday. On the women’s side, eighth-seeded Mirra Andreeva [[ MEER-uh an-DRAY-vuh ]] swept 18-seed Sorana Cirstea [[ so-RAH-nah KEER-stya ]], while 15-seed Marta Kostyuk [[ MAR-tuh KOSS-tyuk ]] upset seventh-seeded Elina Svitolina [[ eh-LEE-nuh svih-toh-LEE-nuh ]] in a three-set battle.
