
A Mt. Vernon man was taken into custody Wednesday following the execution of a weapons-related search warrant tied to an aggravated assault investigation.
According to the Mt. Vernon Police Department, officers along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office High Risk Team executed a search warrant on June 3rd at a residence in the 1200 block of South 12th Street.
The warrant stemmed from an ongoing investigation into an aggravated assault involving a firearm. During the search, investigators said a firearm was recovered.
Authorities said 33-year-old Quavarus Jackson of Mt. Vernon was taken into custody and charged with battery, aggravated assault, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender. He was lodged in the Jefferson County Jail.
