The Edwards County Unit #1 School Board Meeting is set for this evening at 7:00 p.m. in the K-12 Board Room. The meeting will open with a motion to approve the consent agenda. Under Unfinished Business the Board will address a motion to approve the 2nd reading and adoption of policies regarding leaves of absence, sick days, vacations, and holidays; School Wellness; Harassment of Students Prohibition; School Admissions and Transfers to and from Non-District Schools; Prevention of and response to bullying, intimidation, and harassment; Teen Dating Violence Prohibition; Misconduct by Students with Disabilities; and Exemptions from Physical Education. Under New Business, the Board will address the Reading of the 2026-2027 Student Parent Handbook and the Wellness Handbook; a Motion to approve Property/Casualty/Liability and Worker’s Compensation Insurance; a Motion to approve projects over $5,000; and a First Reading of Policies. The Board will then hear Administrative Reports from Superintendent David Cowger, ECHS Principal Dale Schmittler, Albion Grade School Principal Carrie Wells, Albion Grade School Junior High Principal Kris Duncan, West Salem Grade School Principal Mark Beckel, and K-12 Assistant Principal Joe Rivers. In Personnel action, the Board will accept the Resignation of an Albion Grade School Assistant Softball Coach and the Employment of an Albion Grade School Softball Coach, West Salem Grade School Basketball Coach, and Part-Time Cafeteria Cook and Volunteer Assistants. The Board will then enter into Closed Session, followed by the adjournment of the meeting for the evening.
