Billy Kevin Gammon, 71, of Wayne City, IL passed away on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, IL. Billy was born on January 3, 1955, in Mt. Vernon, IL to William & Betty (Quinn) Gammon.
Billy was an oilfield worker and a horse racing jockey. He loved horse racing and arrowhead collecting. He enjoyed tinkering with things and repairing them and buying, selling, and trading. He loved his children and grandchildren.
Billy is survived by his son Billy Wheeler (& wife Melissa); 2 daughters: Billie Hasewinkle and Mellysa Hunley (& husband Jacob), 8 grandchildren: Ramsey, Jenae, Paxton, Greyson, Brycen, Linkin, Atlas, and Colton; 5 sisters: Sherry Rutherford, Crystal Wagner, Danite Breaux (& husband Ronnie), Cynthia Bruce, and Diane Myers; 3 brothers: Harold Gammon, Brad Gammon, and Marty Davis; the mother of his children – Carla Bowen, and her 2 children: Melody Hatcher and Dustin Bowen; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents William & Betty Gammon, 2 brothers: Roger Gammon and Kerry Gammon; and 2 sisters: Tina Garrison and Wendy Winnifred.
