Wayne County Sheriff’s Merit Commission Taking Applications

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Merit Commission is now accepting applications to update its hiring list for the position of Patrol Deputy. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, possess a valid state-issued driver’s license, be a high school graduate or equivalent, and have no felony or criminal convictions that would prevent firearm ownership. A thorough background check is required. The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office serves approximately 16,000 residents across 713 square miles, maintains a jail with a 34-inmate capacity, and provides security for the Wayne County Courthouse.
