Edwards County Community Unit School District #1 has announced the registration schedule and fees for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. Superintendent David Cowger confirmed that registration will be available for Albion Grade School, West Salem Grade School, and Edwards County High School both online and in person.

Online registration will open on Friday, July 17th. Families who prefer to register in person can do so on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at each school location. In-person registration hours will run from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and again from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The district has also released proposed fees for the new school year. Book rental fees are set at $50 for Early Childhood, and $70 for both K-8 and 9-12 grades. Additional fees include $100 for Drivers Education, $25 for Industrial Arts, and a $20 technology fee for students in grades 6 through 12. Athletic participation will cost $100 per student, with a family maximum of $300.

Meal prices have also been updated. Lunch for grades 1-5 will cost $3.25, while grades 6-12 will pay $3.50. Adult lunches are set at $4.00. Reduced-price student lunches will be available for $0.40, with breakfast options for $1.50 or $0.30 for those qualifying for reduced pricing. Milk will be available for $0.40. Athletic admission fees are $2.00 for students and $4.00 for adults and senior citizens, though these rates may change as determined by the Black Diamond Athletic Conference.

In addition to payment of fees, parents and guardians are reminded of several important registration requirements:

Insurance is mandatory for students participating in sports, IHSA activities, Auto, Industrial Arts, and Agriculture classes. Families must provide their insurance company name and policy number at registration, as the district does not provide insurance.

Emergency contact information, including names and phone numbers of individuals who can be reached if parents are unavailable, should be up to date.

New students and incoming kindergarteners must provide an official birth certificate or other reliable proof of identity. If these documents are not available, an affidavit explaining the situation will be required.

Proof of residency must be established before registration can be completed. Families without clear residency documentation must present a current tax bill and utility bill for verification.

Superintendent Cowger encourages all families to gather the necessary paperwork ahead of time to ensure a smooth registration process. For more information, parents are advised to contact their child’s school directly.
