The Fairfield Public School District #112 Board of Education met Monday night and reviewed district finances, maintenance projects, fees, and personnel matters.
Superintendent, Kristina Gardner reported the district has received 97 percent of its projected revenue and spent 88 percent of its budget for the current fiscal year.
The district’s food service fund balance currently stands at $285,333.64. Board members also reviewed transportation expenses, including more than $3,100 in repairs to Bus No. 8 and the purchase of new batteries for Bus No. 1.
The board completed the second reading of proposed student handbook changes and approved registration and transportation fees for the 2026-27 school year. Registration fees will remain $50, with a $30 technology fee and an $80 bus transportation fee.
Board members approved the district’s commercial insurance renewal, which increased by less than one percent, or $906. Health insurance rates for fiscal year 2027 will rise eight percent, with the district’s monthly contribution increasing from $738 to $760 per employee.
Summer maintenance projects are underway at both North Side and Center Street schools. Officials reported classroom cleaning is ongoing, roof work at North Side has been completed, and a tree has been removed. The district is also exploring additional parking at North Side and considering digital display monitors for the gym lobby.
Following closed session, the board accepted the resignations of paraprofessionals Ashley Shreve and JoAnna Harvey. The board also approved the hiring of Brooke Hansen as a paraprofessional and Becky Kollak as a fourth-grade English Language Arts teacher.
